Shield 5 is a captivating new thriller that follows a wrongfully accused man on the run, desperate to clear his name. It has a lot in common with shows like Homeland and 24, except for one tiny thing: Each episode is only 15 seconds long.

Shield 5 is a new dramatic and cinematic series being released on Instagram in installments, just one recent example of what is being labeled as "social cinema." It is the brainchild of British director Anthony Wilcox, who was looking for a quick project to work on while he finished developing a bigger feature. "I’ve done a few short things online as a director-for-hire, and the fast turnaround of those things excited me. I was looking for a way to do that, but telling my own story," Wilcox told Fast Company....

I've been collecting and curating remarkable examples of visual storytelling over at Vimeo for more than a year and the library now has nearly 50 inspiring, thought-provoking, engaging and well made films in there.

 

They are all examples of video storytelling at its very best: creative, universal, visual, and driven by strong narratives. If you’re new to video journalism, or just need some inspiration, then you ought to watch some. I’ve added several new ones in recent weeks which I could easily write pages and pages on.

In this day and age and with the proliferation of brilliant self-publishing/broadcasting tools such as YouTube, WordPress, Twitter, etc.,  your customers are your best brand storytellers.


Your job as a brand manager is to empower and inspire them to tell and re-tell your brand stories. It’s your job as brand guardian to provide your customers with the platform, both emotional and physical, to enable them to tell rivetting stories about your brand.


Case in point; this amazing and very touching BMW brand story involving a man, his son and the BMW bike that tied them together....
