From www.advancingmbcpatientcare.com

Pfizer asks: Can you develop disruptive, technology-enabled solutions to help enrich the lives of patients living with mBC?

Pfizer Oncology has partnered with Health 2.0 to bring you the Advancing Care for Patients Living with mBC Challenge. This global technology challenge seeks to close the gaps in mBC care and catalyze the development of meaningful solutions to support mBC patients along the care continuum and improve their overall quality of life.

The challenge is organized into 3 phases with goals that correlate to successive stages in technology development. The development to beta phase involves additional mentoring, funding, and support to get to a viable prototype. A total of $250,000 in prize funding will be awarded to tech-enabled solutions with the greatest potential to enrich the lives of patients with mBC.

Phase I - Concept

Phase I of the challenge involves developing creative concepts for tech-enabled solutions to help enrich the lives of patients living with mBC. Five semi-finalists will be selected from this round to advance to Phase II.

Phase II - Development

During Phase II, the 5 semi-finalists will receive mentorship from industry experts to guide the development of their solutions. A mid-challenge pitch during this phase will determine the 3 finalists who will advance to Phase III.

Phase III - Pitch

Phase III of the challenge will be a live pitch event during which the 3 finalists will demo their prototypes and pitch their business plans to a live audience. A grand winner and runner up will be selected.

Depressed? Pfizer Has an App (& Drug, of course) for That!

From www.pmlive.com

Pfizer has launched a new mobile app for patients suffering from depression that it hopes will enable them to take a more active role in managing their condition.
The firm wants its new Moodivator app to complement treatment and says it can do so in a simple and efficient way.
The free iPhone app allows patients to set goals, track their moods using a simple scale and share their progress with their care team.
It also includes information about one of Pfizer's prescription treatments for depression, but the company says the app is not intended to take the place of doctors' care or advice.

I haven't seen this app yet, but I hope it includes all the necessary fair balance. See this PPT: “The Sorry State of Pharma Mobile Health Apps & What To Do About It”; http://sco.lt/4n05wH

Pfizer And IBM Launch Ambitious 'Internet Of Things' For Parkinson's Research

From www.forbes.com

Pfizer is betting big on the Internet of Things, or IoT, in medicine – that is, the connectivity of physical objects like medical devices to collect and exchange data – to boost Parkinson’s R&D and ultimately, to better inform care for patients.
To make this nebulous idea a reality, the pharmaceutical company is partnering with computer titan IBM to develop a system of sensors, mobile devices and machines that could deliver real-time, around-the-clock disease symptom monitoring of Parkinson’s patients to clinicians and researchers.
