Hi!
Although I am 20 years old and I can be considered young and creactive, sometimes young teachers tend to maintain the traditional methodologies and strategies that our teachers used with us many years before. However, time have changed and we have to adapt to nowadays students and their needs. For instance, there is the current idea that the traditional setting arregement of students in the class, affect their engagement and attentiveness. In this interesting article, I found information not only about the importance and benefits of a flexible seating classrooms, but also how to do it in your classroom.
The most important information I found is:
-Sitting at a desk all day can be distracting for students who have trouble staying still. Floor seating can keep students focused on their work.
-Flexible furniture is one key component of a modern learning environment.
-When students are allowed to sit where they feel more comfortable, they feel that the classrooms is also theirs.
