EU FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT TIPS

The main objective of this Call for Proposals is to promote development education and raise public awareness on development and cooperation policies.

The specific objective of this call for proposals is to provide support for and promote quality development education and awareness raising among the European public. The proposed projects must foster a growing awareness and critical understanding of the role, responsibility and lifestyles of the public in relation to an interdependent world. It should motivate their effective involvement in local and global Actions in support of the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.

For all lots, proposals must focus on interdependencies between developing countries and the European Union, and seek to build public understanding of global public goods and challenges (such as sustainable energy, food security, human development, and sustainable agriculture). A particular emphasis is expected on issues related to migration, climate change, and gender equality.

The deadline for the submission of concept notes is 01/06/2016 at 16:00 (Brussels date and time).

Objectives of the call

To develop European citizens’ awareness and critical understanding of the interdependent world, of roles and responsibilities in relation to development issues in a globalised society; and to support their active engagement with global attempts to eradicate poverty and discrimination.

EU contribution 90% for all lots

The global objective of this Call for Proposals is to contribute to the respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms in Trinidad and Tobago.

The specific objectives of this Call for Proposals is to  support activities aiming to create enabling environment conducive to tackling Human rights issues in Trinidad and Tobago.

Types of action which may be financed under this call include:

Support activities aiming to address gender based violence

• activities pertaining to advocacy and education designed to specifically target groups to combat stereotypes and to transform negative gender norms amongst the various segments of population; o public awareness campaigns in mass media to influence public opinion (videos, documentaries, developing apps, television clippings, publishing research findings);
• activities to support re-education of perpetrators of gender-based violence; o research on issues pertaining to support the prevention measures of gender-based violence and global promotion of gender equality

Support activities aiming to safeguard the rights of Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI):

• public awareness campaigns in mass media to influence public anti - discrimination opinion (videos, documentaries, developing apps, television clippings, publishing research findings);
• campaigns for promoting anti-discrimination legislation;
• dialogue to promote broad consensus between groups with opposing interests;
• seminars, developing modules and training materials aiming to promote capacity strengthening of competent authorities on LGBTIs issues.
• Research on issues pertaining to promote LGBTIs rights

The global objective of this call for proposals is:

To strengthen civil society organisations' and local authorities' contribution to governance and development processes.

For LOT 1 - CSOs:

1. To support and strengthen CSOs' capacity to perform their roles as development actors, services providers and agents in policy processes, in coordination with the country's relevant stakeholders, in the areas of:
   • support to children, women, people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups;
   • gender equality;
   • education;
   • health;
   • food security and sustainable natural resources management;
   • water and sanitation;
   • culture, media and information
   • cultural and natural heritage;
   • interfaith dialogue and prevention of radicalisation;
   • youth empowerment;
   • economic empowerment for disadvantaged groups and populations segments out of mainstream services;
   • decent work and rights at work;
   • migration and fight to trafficking and smuggling.

1. To foster CSOs' cooperation with similar entities (eg with other Eritrean, African and European CSOs) and with LAs in-country and abroad and/or to strengthen CSOs' cooperation with international and regional intergovernmental organisations.

For LOT 2 – LAs

1. To support LAas' capacity to perform their roles as development actors, service and welfare providers, and promoters of inclusive and sustainable growth at the local level (according to their institutional mandate) in the areas of:
   • support to children, women, people with disability and other vulnerable groups;
   • gender equality;
   • education;
   • health;
   • food security and sustainable natural resources management;
   • water and sanitation;
   • culture, media and information;
   • cultural and natural heritage;
   • interfaith dialogue and prevention of radicalisations;
   • youth empowerment;
   • economic empowerment for disadvantaged groups and populations segments out of mainstream services;
   • decent work and rights at work;
   • migration and fight to trafficking and smuggling.
