The main changes compared to the 2017 call for proposals are:

The funding available for the EMJMDs will cover four intakes of students as compared to three intakes in the past.
The EMJMD grant will finance a maximum of 60 "Heading 1" student scholarships for the four intakes.
Up to 48 additional student scholarships for the four intakes are available for eight targeted regions of the world:
- Eastern Partnership countries, South-Mediterranean countries, Asia, Central Asia, Latin America, South Africa and Gulf Countries ("Heading 4")
- the Africa-Caribbean-Pacific countries ("European Development Fund")
The 75% ratio of EMJMD scholarships earmarked for student candidates from Partner Countries refers to the overall number of scholarships financed, including those made available for one or more priority regions/countries of the world.

Students at Masters level can apply to a maximum of three different programmes. Both, students and potential scholars/guest lecturers should contact the relevant Consortium for more information on courses and application procedures.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMDs) build on the success of Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses (EMMCs) and aim to:

Foster excellence, innovation, and internationalisation in Higher Education Institutions
Boost the attractiveness of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and support the EU's external action in the field of higher education
Improve the level of competences and skills of Master graduates, and their employability.

EMJMDs support the following activities:

The delivery of an EMJMD programme corresponding to 60, 90 or 120 ECTS credits, organised through an international consortium of higher education institutions and including the participation of invited scholars (guest lecturers) for teaching, training and/or research purposes.
The award of scholarships to excellent students worldwide for their participation in one of these EMJMD programmes.

Deadline:18 February 2016 (12:00 CET – Midday Brussels time)
